Tequila Sunrise
A dramatic layered cocktail of tequila, orange juice, and grenadine — named for its gradient of color that mimics a desert sunrise.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Blanco tequila
- 4 oz Fresh orange juice
- 0.5 oz Grenadine
- orange slice (garnish) garnish
- cherry (garnish) garnish
Pairs With
Enjoy with brunch fare like chorizo and egg tacos, chilaquiles, or breakfast quesadillas; the sweet grenadine and orange juice echo morning flavors beautifully.
Instructions
Fill a highball glass with ice
Pour tequila over the ice
Add fresh orange juice and stir briefly
Slowly pour grenadine down the inside of the glass — it will sink and create the sunrise effect
Do not stir after adding the grenadine
Garnish with an orange slice and cherry

Pour the grenadine over the back of a bar spoon against the glass for the cleanest gradient Use real grenadine (pomegranate-based) rather than artificially colored corn syrup brands Fresh-squeezed orange juice makes a noticeably better drink than carton juice
