Stinger
A bracing old-school digestif that pairs cognac with white creme de menthe. Minty, warming, and refreshingly simple, favored by the mid-century cocktail set.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Cognac
- 0.8 oz White creme de menthe
- fresh mint sprig (garnish) garnish
Pairs With
Enjoy as a digestif after mint-forward dishes like tabbouleh or after a rich meal; the crème de menthe aids digestion while its cooling mint refreshes the palate.
Instructions
Combine cognac and white creme de menthe in a mixing glass
Fill with ice and stir for 25-30 seconds until well chilled
Strain into a chilled coupe glass
Gently slap a mint sprig between your palms and place it on top as a garnish
Tips
Always use white (clear) creme de menthe, never green; the green version adds artificial color and an overly sweet taste This can also be served on crushed ice in a rocks glass for a more casual, longer-lasting drink Start with less creme de menthe and adjust up; the mint can easily overpower the cognac
