Paper Plane
A modern classic created by bartender Sam Ross at Milk and Honey in New York. Four equal parts create a perfectly balanced cocktail that is bright, bitter, and boozy with a silky citrus finish.
Ingredients
- 0.8 oz Bourbon
- 0.8 oz Aperol
- 0.8 oz Amaro Nonino Quintessentia
- 0.8 oz Fresh lemon juice
- lemon twist (garnish) garnish
Pairs With
Enjoy with small bites like gougères, prosciutto-wrapped figs, or fresh mozzarella with tomato; the balanced citrus and bitter complexity cuts through rich, umami flavors.
Instructions
Combine bourbon, Aperol, Amaro Nonino, and fresh lemon juice in a cocktail shaker
Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 12 to 15 seconds
Double strain through a fine mesh strainer into a chilled coupe glass
Express a lemon twist over the surface of the drink to release the oils
Rest the lemon twist on the rim or drop it into the glass
Tips
All four ingredients in equal parts is the key to this drink — do not deviate from the ratio Amaro Nonino is essential and cannot be easily substituted; its vanilla and orange peel notes tie everything together Shake hard and strain well for a clean, elegant presentation with no ice chips
