Negroni Sbagliato
The "mistaken" Negroni, born when a Milan bartender accidentally grabbed prosecco instead of gin. The sparkling wine adds lightness and effervescence, making it a brunch-friendly aperitivo.
Ingredients
- 1 oz Campari
- 1 oz Sweet vermouth
- 2 oz Prosecco (well-chilled)
- orange slice (garnish) garnish
Pairs With
Serve alongside light seafood appetizers, fresh mozzarella, or delicate canapés with smoked salmon. The sparkling prosecco adds elegance and pairs wonderfully with briny oysters or shrimp crudités.
Instructions
Add Campari and sweet vermouth to a wine glass filled with ice
Stir briefly to combine and chill the spirits
Top with well-chilled prosecco
Stir very gently once to integrate without flattening the bubbles
Garnish with a half-moon orange slice on the rim
Tips
Use a dry prosecco rather than a sweet one to keep the drink balanced against the sweet vermouth This went massively viral after a celebrity interview in 2022 and has remained a staple on American cocktail menus since Build it in a wine glass rather than a rocks glass to preserve the bubbles and show off the gorgeous ruby color
