The undisputed king of tequila cocktails — a perfect balance of tequila, fresh lime, and orange liqueur that has been America's favorite cocktail for decades.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Blanco tequila
- 1 oz Fresh lime juice
- 0.8 oz Cointreau or triple sec
- 0.3 oz Agave syrup

Pairs With

Instructions
If desired, rim half the glass with salt by running a lime wedge around the edge and dipping in kosher salt
Add tequila, lime juice, Cointreau, and agave syrup to a shaker with ice
Shake vigorously for 15 seconds until well-chilled
Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice
Garnish with a lime wheel on the rim

Fresh lime juice is non-negotiable — bottled lime juice will ruin the drink Cointreau makes a cleaner margarita than generic triple sec Rim only half the glass so you can choose salty or not with each sip
