Maple Leaf
A distinctly Canadian cocktail that pairs the nation's two most famous exports. Real maple syrup and fresh lemon juice transform Canadian whisky into a balanced, autumnal sour.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Canadian whisky
- 0.8 oz Fresh lemon juice
- 0.8 oz Pure maple syrup
- lemon twist (garnish) garnish
Pairs With
Serve with North American comfort food such as roasted duck breast, pork chops, or pecan pie. The maple syrup brings out warm spice notes that resonate with autumnal, rich preparations.
Instructions
Combine Canadian whisky, fresh lemon juice, and maple syrup in a cocktail shaker
Fill the shaker with ice
Shake vigorously for 15 seconds until well-chilled
Double strain through a fine mesh strainer into a chilled coupe glass
Express a lemon twist over the surface and rest it on the rim
Tips
Use Grade A dark or amber maple syrup for the richest flavor — avoid pancake syrup which contains corn syrup The maple syrup is thick, so shake extra hard to ensure it fully integrates into the cocktail This drink is outstanding in fall and winter but refreshing enough for year-round enjoyment
