Italian Margarita
A creative twist on the classic margarita that swaps triple sec for amaretto. The almond sweetness pairs beautifully with tequila and lime, creating a nutty, citrusy cocktail that is both familiar and surprising.
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz Silver tequila
- 1 oz Amaretto
- 1 oz Fresh lime juice
- 0.5 oz Orange juice
- lime wheel (garnish) garnish
- amarena cherry (garnish) garnish
Pairs With
Pair with ceviche or grilled shrimp with lime to balance the amaretto's sweetness with bright, citrus-forward seafood. The almond and citrus combination mirrors classic Mediterranean flavor pairings.
Instructions
Combine tequila, amaretto, fresh lime juice, and orange juice in a cocktail shaker
Fill with ice and shake vigorously for 15 seconds
Strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass
Garnish with a lime wheel and an amarena cherry
Optionally rim half the glass with sugar before building the drink
Tips
Use a blanco tequila rather than reposado — the cleaner agave flavor blends better with the almond sweetness The orange juice rounds out the flavors; fresh-squeezed makes a noticeable difference For a frozen version, blend all ingredients with a cup of ice until smooth
