Hurricane
A potent New Orleans classic from Pat O'Brien's bar, a fruity storm of rum and passion fruit that packs a deceptive punch.

- 2 oz White rum
- 2 oz Passion fruit juice
- 1 oz Orange juice
- 0.5 oz Fresh lime juice
- 1 oz Simple syrup
- 0.5 oz Grenadine

- maraschino cherry (garnish) garnish
Pairs With
Pair with spiced jambalaya, blackened catfish, or New Orleans-style shrimp étouffée—the fruity passion fruit and rum's warmth echo the bold, layered flavors of Creole and Cajun cooking.
Instructions
Add dark rum, white rum, passion fruit juice, orange juice, lime juice, simple syrup, and grenadine to a shaker
Fill with ice and shake vigorously for 12-15 seconds
Strain into a hurricane glass filled with fresh ice
Garnish with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry
Serve with a straw
Tips
Seek out real passion fruit puree or juice; the artificial syrups used on Bourbon Street produce a much worse drink This cocktail is strong with 4 oz of rum, so sip slowly and be mindful of its potency For a more balanced version, reduce the simple syrup to 0.5 oz and let the fruit juices provide the sweetness
