Gold Rush
A modern bourbon sour built on honey syrup and fresh lemon, created at the famous Milk & Honey bar in New York City. Silky, balanced, and dangerously easy to drink.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Bourbon
- 0.8 oz Honey syrup (1:1 honey to water)
- 0.8 oz Fresh lemon juice
- lemon wheel (garnish) garnish
Pairs With
Pair with soft cheese and charcuterie or a honey-glazed pork chop to echo the cocktail's honeyed sweetness and citrus brightness. The sour's balance makes it ideal for appetizers that bridge sweet and savory flavors.
Instructions
Combine bourbon, honey syrup, and fresh lemon juice in a shaker
Fill shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 15 seconds
Strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass
Garnish with a lemon wheel on the rim
Tips
Make honey syrup by stirring equal parts honey and warm water until dissolved; it mixes into cold drinks far better than straight honey A medium-bodied bourbon like Buffalo Trace or Four Roses Small Batch works perfectly here For a richer variation, use 2:1 honey syrup and reduce to 0.5 oz
