El Diablo
A dark, mysterious highball of tequila, crème de cassis, lime, and ginger beer — fruity, spicy, and hauntingly good.
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz Reposado tequila
- 0.5 oz Crème de cassis
- 0.8 oz Fresh lime juice
- 3 oz Ginger beer
- lime wheel (garnish) garnish
- blackberries (garnish) garnish
Pairs With
Pair with smoky, rich dishes like barbacoa, carnitas, or blackened fish tacos; the dark cassis and spicy ginger complement deep, charred flavors intensely.
Instructions
Add tequila, crème de cassis, and lime juice to a shaker with ice
Shake for 10 seconds
Strain into a highball glass filled with fresh ice
Top with ginger beer
Stir gently once to integrate
Garnish with a lime wheel and a few blackberries on a pick
Tips
Crème de cassis (blackcurrant liqueur) is what gives this drink its deep, devilish purple-red color If you cannot find crème de cassis, Chambord (raspberry liqueur) is a workable substitute This cocktail dates back to Trader Vic's 1946 "Book of Food and Drink"
