Dubliner
A bold, bittersweet cocktail that channels the spirit of Ireland's capital city. Irish whiskey meets orange liqueur and a generous dose of aromatic bitters for a drink that is equal parts warmth and sophistication.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Irish whiskey
- 0.8 oz Grand Marnier
- 0.5 oz Sweet vermouth
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 dash Orange bitters
- orange peel (garnish) garnish
Pairs With
Pair with Irish soda bread, smoked salmon, and creamed horseradish for a classic Celtic appetizer that echoes the whiskey's warmth and citrus notes.
Instructions
Add Irish whiskey, Grand Marnier, sweet vermouth, and both bitters to a mixing glass
Fill with ice and stir steadily for 25 to 30 seconds until well chilled
Strain into a chilled coupe glass
Express an orange peel over the drink and rest it on the rim of the glass
Tips
Grand Marnier adds a rich, cognac-backed orange character; Cointreau can substitute but will make the drink lighter and drier A pot still whiskey like Redbreast or Green Spot gives this drink the backbone it needs to stand up to the modifiers This is a stirred cocktail, not shaken; stirring keeps it silky and clear rather than frothy and cloudy
