Bramble
A modern British classic created in 1980s London, layering gin and lemon over crushed ice with a dramatic drizzle of blackberry liqueur.
Ingredients
- 2 oz London dry gin
- 1 oz Fresh lemon juice
- 0.5 oz Simple syrup
- 0.5 oz Creme de mure (blackberry liqueur)
- fresh blackberries (garnish) garnish
- lemon half-wheel (garnish) garnish
Pairs With
Pair with British charcuterie, aged cheddar, and crusty bread to echo the drink's bold berry notes and gin botanicals. The tartness of the blackberry liqueur complements sharp cheeses and cured meats perfectly.
Instructions
Add gin, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker with ice
Shake well for 10-12 seconds
Strain into a rocks glass packed with crushed ice
Drizzle creme de mure slowly over the top so it bleeds through the ice
Garnish with fresh blackberries and a lemon half-wheel
Serve with a short straw so the drinker sips from the bottom up through the layers
Tips
Do not stir after drizzling the creme de mure; the layered bleeding effect is the visual signature of this drink Crushed ice is essential for the proper dilution and presentation If creme de mure is unavailable, Chambord works as a substitute though the flavor will be slightly different
