Blue Margarita
A striking twist on the world's most popular cocktail. Blue curacao replaces triple sec, giving the classic margarita a vivid azure hue while adding a slightly more bitter orange complexity.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Blanco tequila
- 1 oz Blue curacao
- 1 oz Fresh lime juice
- 0.5 oz Agave nectar
- lime wheel (garnish) garnish
- salt rim (optional) (garnish) garnish
Pairs With
Pair with grilled fish tacos or carne asada to complement the margarita's citrus bite elevated by tropical curacao notes. The salt and char of these dishes enhance the cocktail's fresh, vibrant character.
Instructions
If desired, rim a rocks glass with salt by running a lime wedge around the edge and dipping in coarse salt
Combine tequila, blue curacao, fresh lime juice, and agave nectar in a cocktail shaker
Fill shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 15 seconds
Strain over fresh ice in the prepared rocks glass
Garnish with a lime wheel on the rim
Tips
Use a 100-percent agave blanco tequila for a clean, crisp margarita that lets the blue curacao shine The agave nectar is optional if your curacao is on the sweeter side — taste the mix before shaking and adjust For a frozen version, blend all ingredients with a cup of ice until smooth and serve in a margarita glass
