Baileys Irish Coffee
The beloved Irish coffee elevated with a generous pour of Baileys in addition to the traditional Irish whiskey. Warming, sweet, and topped with a thick layer of cream that you sip the coffee through.
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz Baileys Irish Cream
- 0.5 oz Irish whiskey
- 4 oz Hot brewed coffee
- 1 oz Lightly whipped cream
- 1 tsp Brown sugar
- cocoa powder dusting (garnish) garnish
Pairs With
Serve after hearty Irish fare like beef stew or soda bread with butter; the warming whiskey and cream complement rich, comfort-food meals perfectly.
Instructions
Preheat an Irish coffee glass or wine glass by filling it with hot water, then discarding
Add brown sugar and hot coffee to the warmed glass and stir until dissolved
Pour in the Irish whiskey and Baileys and stir gently to combine
Lightly whip heavy cream until it just holds its shape — do not over-whip
Pour the cream slowly over the back of a spoon so it floats on top
Dust with cocoa powder and serve without stirring
Tips
The cream should be poured over a spoon and sipped through, never stirred into the coffee Use a medium roast coffee so it does not overpower the Baileys and whiskey Brown sugar adds a toffee note that pairs better with Baileys than white sugar
