By Public

A layered shot of Kahlua, Baileys, and Grand Marnier that showcases the art of density pouring. Named after the B-52 bomber, this spectacular three-layer shooter is a bartender's showpiece.

Ingredients

Pairs With

Offer as a shot pairing with chocolate mousse or chocolate-covered cherries; the layered density mirrors the multi-dimensional flavors of premium chocolate desserts.

Instructions

1

Pour Kahlua into the bottom of a shot glass as the heaviest layer

2

Hold a bar spoon upside down with its tip touching the inside of the glass just above the Kahlua

3

Slowly pour Baileys over the back of the spoon so it floats on top of the Kahlua

4

Clean the spoon and repeat the same technique with Grand Marnier as the top layer

5

Serve immediately without stirring to preserve the layered effect

Tips

Pour each layer as slowly as possible — patience is the only real technique here The liqueurs must be at room temperature; cold Baileys is thicker and disrupts the layering For a flaming B-52, carefully ignite the top layer of Grand Marnier and blow it out before drinking
