KahluashotsweetMedium

By Public

A layered shot that is as much a visual spectacle as it is a drink. Kahlua, Baileys, and Grand Marnier stacked in distinct bands create a warm, coffee-citrus flavor combination.

Ingredients

Pairs With

Serve as an after-dinner shot with petit fours, chocolate bonbons, or hazelnut wafers to complement the layered sweetness and complexity.

Instructions

1

Pour Kahlua into a shot glass as the bottom layer

2

Slowly pour Baileys Irish Cream over the back of a bar spoon so it floats on top of the Kahlua

3

Gently clean the bar spoon, then slowly pour Grand Marnier over the back of the spoon to create the third layer

4

Serve immediately while the layers are still distinct

5

Optionally, ignite the top layer briefly for a flaming presentation and blow out before drinking

Tips

The layering depends on density — Kahlua is heaviest, then Baileys, then Grand Marnier, so always pour in that order Pour each layer over the back of a bar spoon touching the glass wall, letting it drip slowly to avoid breaking through If the layers mix, the drink still tastes great — do not stress about perfection while learning the technique
