Aperol Margarita
A brilliant Italian-Mexican mashup that swaps traditional orange liqueur for Aperol. The bitter orange notes of Aperol play beautifully against tequila and fresh citrus, creating a margarita with unexpected depth and a gorgeous sunset hue.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Tequila blanco
- 1 oz Aperol
- 1 oz Fresh lime juice
- 0.5 oz Fresh orange juice
- 0.5 oz Agave syrup
- lime wheel (garnish) garnish
- Tajin rim (half rim) (garnish) garnish
Pairs With
Pair with Mexican street corn, chorizo-stuffed peppers, or lime-grilled shrimp; the Italian-Mexican fusion works perfectly with vibrant, citrus-forward Mexican cuisine.
Instructions
Run a lime wedge around half the rim of a rocks glass and dip in Tajin seasoning
Combine tequila, Aperol, lime juice, orange juice, and agave syrup in a shaker
Fill with ice and shake vigorously for 15 seconds
Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice
Strain the cocktail over the ice
Garnish with a lime wheel on the rim
Tips
The half-rim of Tajin gives you the option of spicy or clean sips depending on where you drink from the glass Use a good blanco tequila like Espolon or Olmeca Altos that has enough agave character to stand up to the Aperol Fresh orange juice rounds out the citrus and bridges the gap between the tequila and Aperol flavors
